Chimerica
Made in Chimerica is a series of collaged photographs that blend imagery from my travels in China with scenes from life in America. The term "Chimerica" is a contemporary concept that reflects the intertwined and symbiotic relationship between China and the United States. This work draws on the technique of the "angle of totality," a method from traditional Chinese landscape painting that captures multiple perspectives within a single composition. By using technology as a central element, I created images that bridge historical narrative traditions and offer a visual reflection of our modern cultural stories. These imagined landscapes utilize architectural forms to question and redefine cultural conventions. As I reshaped and re-experienced the original digital photographs, the resulting landscapes were not meant to offer a single point of view, but rather to assemble a series of moments—an expression of the profound connection found in the shared beauty of nature and culture.
